Mark: Good morning, I'm here with Alvaro Rodriguez from Luxury Bespoke Beds and today we're going to talk a little bit about contemporary beds. The first thing Alvaro can I ask you what are contemporary beds?
Alvaro: Hello Mark, contemporary beds, contemporary means more or less everything that's made in the moment so if something was made in 1920 that was contemporary in that moment. If it was made in 2011 then that is conferred the expression as contemporary. Contemporary became very or has been very strongly influenced by Bauhaus which was a group of actors and designers and artists in the 1920s in Germany who created, came together and created a new way of making and building and educating art and design so this and that and many things were affected by this time, was created at this time.
It was just a period of 10 to maximum 20 years but it has had too a major impact on contemporary designs and everything what we call contemporary which is often confused a little bit with modernism. Modern which came more or less at the same time. It was... the aim of modernism was to do anything else conserve the design or art, to be rebellious against them looking at the future what would look futuristic? What would be a design that is completely out of the time? Very much looking at the future.
Coming back to contemporary beds, I'm looking at the Luxury Bespoke Beds and aim that we have is to make furniture that is completely totally in the moment, totally in this moment and it can only happen because the clients the customer that comes to us and comes with certain ideas of beds and we try to put to them to make exactly, in this moment, a piece of furniture of art and design and which is made now but hopefully for the next 20, 30 years and many many other years to come so that is what I would call, how I would define contemporary furniture which would be beds.
